【摘要】:Anincreaseinsulfatematerialcanbeanindicatorofoildegradationcausedbyoxidationofsulfurintheoilandsulfurinfuel.Itcanalsoindicatethebreakdownoroxidationofsomekeyadditivesintheoilsuchasantiwearandextremepressureadditivesaswellasblow-byconcerns.Asoxidizedsulfurfromblow-byentersthelubricant,itwillconsumetheoverbaseadditivetogeneratesulfateby-products.Monitoringofsulfateby-productsisthereforeanimportantparameterindeterminingoverallmachineryhealthandindeterminingadditivedepletionandshouldbeconsideredinconjunctionwithdatafromothertestssuchasatomicemission(AE)andatomicabsorption(AA)spectroscopyforwearmetalanalysis(TestMethodD5185),physicalpropertytests(TestMethodsD445,D2896,andD6304),basenumbertests(TestMethodsD974andD4739)andotherFT-IRoilanalysismethodsfornitration(PracticeE2412),oxidation(TestMethodD7414),additivedepletion(TestMethodD7412),breakdownproductsandexternalcontaminants(PracticeE2412),whichalsoassesselementsoftheoilx2019;scondition,seeRefs(1-6)1.1Thistestmethodcoversmonitoringsulfateby-productsinin-servicepetroleumandhydrocarbonbaseddieselcrankcaseengineandmotoroilsthathaveasulfurcontentofgreaterthan500ppm.Thistestmethodshouldnotbeemployedwhenlow-sulfurfuelsareusedforcombustion.1.2ThistestmethodusesFourierTransformInfrared(FT-IR)spectrometryformonitoringbuild-upofsulfateby-productsinin-servicepetroleumandhydrocarbonbasedlubricantsasaresultofnormalmachineryoperation.Sulfateby-productscanresultfromtheintroductionofsulfurfromcombustionorfromtheoxidationofsulfur-containingbaseoiladditives.Thistestmethodisdesignedasafast,simplespectroscopiccheckformonitoringofsulfateby-productsinin-servicepetroleumandhydrocarbonbasedlubricantswiththeobjectiveofhelpingdiagnosetheoperationalconditionofthemachinebasedonmeasuringthelevelofsulfateby-productsintheoil.1.3AcquisitionofFT-IRspectraldataformeasuringsulfateby-productsinin-serviceoilandlubricantsamplesisdescribedinPracticeD7418.Inthistestmethod,measurementanddatainterpretationparametersforsulfateby-productsusingbothdirecttrendanalysisanddifferential(spectralsubtraction)trendanalysisarepresented.1.4Thistestmethodisbasedontrendingofspectralchangesassociatedwithsulfateby-productsofin-servicepetroleumandhydrocarbonbasedlubricants.Warningsoralarmlimitscanbesetonthebasisofafixedminimumvalueforasinglemeasurementor,alternatively,canbebasedonarateofchangeoftheresponsemeasured,seeRef(1).1.4.1Fordirecttrendanalysis,valuesarerecordeddirectlyfromabsorptionspectraandreportedinunitsofabsorbanceper0.1mmpathlength.1.4.2Fordifferentialtrendanalysis,valuesarerecordedfromthedifferentialspectra(spectrumobtainedbysubtractionoftheabsorptionspectrumofthereferenceoilfromthatofthein-serviceoil)andreportedinunitsof100*absorbanceper0.1mmpathlength(orequivalentlyabsorbanceunitspercentimetre).1.4.3Ineithercase,maintenanceactionlimitsshouldbedeterminedthroughstatisticalanalysis,historyofthesameorsimilarequipment,roundrobintestsorothermethodsinconjunctionwiththecorrelationofsulfateby-productchangestoequipmentperformance.Note18212;Itisnottheintentofthistestmethodtoestablishorrecommend......
